Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream is celebrating the soon-opening of its first scoop shop in downtown Asheville by teaming up Girls on the Run of Western North Carolina for a special community impact project at the Wedge at Foundation (5 Foundy Street, Asheville, NC 28801) on Saturday, August 25 from 3-4 p.m.
For 60 minutes only on that Saturday afternoon, Ben & Jerry’s will be dishing out a free scoop of its beloved ice cream to those come out to donate some of Asheville Humane Society's most-requested items—big towels and blankets to keep the animals cozy!
Asheville community members must bring donations to the Wedge at Foundation to receive one free scoop of ice cream per person.
To host this one-hour event, Ben & Jerry’s is partnering with Girls on the Run, a physical activity-based, positive youth development program for girls that combines running with lessons about important topics such as preventing bullying and processing emotions. As part of the 10-week Girls on the Run program, which is held at dozens of sites throughout WNC in the spring and fall, teams of girls in 3rd-8th grade think up and complete a community impact project together. Girls on the Run is joining Ben & Jerry's and the Wedge at Foundation for a joint community impact project to give back to Asheville Humane Society!
