Other Homeless Animals Need You!
While our facilities are closed, preparing for the opening of the new Animal Care campus, there are plenty of other homeless animals out there in need of homes! Please consider adopting a pet from one of the many animal shelters and rescue groups in the surrounding areas:
The Rutherford County Animal Shelter is set to close temporarily from Friday through Sept. 13 for maintenance. As of 1:30 p.m. today, the shelter had 81 pets -- 43 cats and 38 dogs -- which needed homes. If the shelter cannot find homes for the pets by the end of the business day Friday, they will be euthanized. The shelter is located at 578 Laurel Hill Drive in Rutherfordton. Phone number is (828) 287-6025 or (828) 287-6420. (Source: Asheville Citizen Times - 9/1/2010)
Please consider visiting one of the municipal animal shelters at one of our neighboring counties.
Or please consider adopting your next best friend from Animal Compassion Network at http://www.animalcompassionnetwork.org/

AHS Animals Almost All Adopted Before Big Move!

After only two days of the Adoption Moving Special, Asheville Humane Society is excited to announce that almost all of its shelter animals, with the exception of three dogs, have found forever homes.
Katherine McGowan, Interim President/CEO, exclaims, “This is more than we could have ever hoped for! We are so grateful to the residents of Buncombe County who generously opened their homes and hearts to these animals.”
To date, the fee-waived promotion has resulted in 113 adoptions. All cats are adopted and only three dogs remain. They can be viewed by clicking here or on the Adoptions tab to the left.
