Asheville Humane Society is excited to announce the opening of our new Thrift Store, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the animals! The Thrift Store is located in our Community Center at 1425 Patton Avenue. Please consider shopping for a good cause or donating your unwanted items to help animals in need!

Thrift Store Hours - To Shop:

Spring/Summer Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 6pm 

Beginning July 1: Monday - Saturday, 10am - 6pm

Want to donate items to the Thrift Store? Please Review our Donation Guidelines:

  • We do offer free pick ups for larger furniture items, provided they meet our store guidelines.

  • To schedule a pick-up, call 828.761.2002

  • Donation receipts are available upon request when items are being donated.

  • Please understand we have limited dumpster space and cannot provide a dumpster for items that have been declined for donation due to the cost to AHS.

Appliances – We do accept small kitchen appliances, electric washing machines and electric dryers in good working condition. We do not accept gas appliances, stoves or built-in microwaves.

Books, DVDs, CDs, Magazines – We do accept books in good shape, DVDs, CDs, and current year only magazines. We do not accept VHS tapes, cassettes, encyclopedias, textbooks, books that have a musty smell, homemade CDs, or copied DVDs.

Children’s Items – We do accept in-season children’s clothing in excellent condition, toys in very good condition, and games with all pieces. We do not accept cribs or car seats.

Clothing and Accessories – We do accept in-season boutique-quality clothing in excellent condition, purses, hats, shoes, and jewelry in good condition. We do not accept T-shirts, sweatpants, or clothing that is ripped, torn, stained or has an odor such as mothballs, cigarettes or mold.

Electronics – We do accept flat screen TVs, radios, stereo components, DVD players, newer speakers, lamps, heaters and working kitchen appliances. We do not accept VHS players, old tube TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, Keurig’s, air purifiers or humidifiers.

Exercise equipment – We do accept newer exercise equipment, golf clubs, bikes, stationary bikes, and treadmills in working condition. We do not accept older exercise equipment.

Furniture – We do accept couches, loveseats, bookshelves, coffee and end tables, small desks, dining tables, chairs, recliners, antiques and most anything that does not have rips, tears or stains. We do not accept entertainment centers, particle board furniture, large desks, mattresses, box springs or anything that is too large for us to handle due to limited space.

Housewares and Home Décor – We do accept home décor items in good condition. We do not accept items that are broken, missing pieces, or do not work as intended.

Kitchen Items – We do accept kitchen items in good working order. We do not accept items that are broken, chipped, faded, stained or dirty.

Lawn and Garden – We do accept outdoor furniture, lawn equipment, and garden items in good condition. We do not accept items that are rusted, broken, or inoperable.  

Linens – We do accept towels, sheets, curtains, comforters, duvet covers and decorative pillows. We do not accept anything that is stained, torn, ripped or has a bad odor.

Pet supplies – We do accept toys, beds, crates, clothing, collars, and leashes in good condition. We will not accept rusted metal pet items, tie-out stakes or shock collars.

Seasonal – We do accept seasonal décor for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. in good condition. We do not accept artificial Christmas trees.

Vintage/Antique Items – We do accept antique, vintage and collectible items in good condition. We do not accept items that are broken beyond repair or have a bad odor.
