What does it mean to you to work in animal care?

It means everything in the world to me to be able to work in my field of passion and to work with people who feel the same.

What are some of the best parts of your job?

To be able to see animals who are injured, sick, and fearful grow and heal to be the best animal they can be, and to be eventually adopted into their forever home.  Also, seeing the happiness on people’s faces when they’ve found the right addition to their family.

What are some of the hardest parts of your job?

Witnessing and feeling the loss of the animals we couldn’t save and seeing previously adopted animals returned to us.

Have you had a moment that has really stuck out to you as a reason you keep coming back? Or, why do you keep coming back?

Knowing that I can make a direct difference in the animals’ emotional and physical well-being is what keeps me here.

Why do you feel so passionately about animals?

Growing up in rural Tennessee around wildlife and nature is what started me on my path of passion for the protection of all animals.

What do you want the public to know about your job?

This is one of the toughest jobs out there, and a lot of the time, it can be physically and emotionally exhausting but also one of the most rewarding and satisfying.

Anything else you want to add?

I’ve learned so much from this job, and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
