October is Adopt-A-Dog Month!

Stuff You Need To Know

1) This pet photo contest is open to all residents of Buncombe County. However, current employees of Asheville Humane Society and their relatives are not eligible to participate.

2) Only one photo will be considered for the contest; multiple entries will be disqualified. Seriously.

3) Prizes:

First Prize: $25 gift certificate and a trophy from Blaze-N-Skyy, dog tag from Dog Tag Art and AHS Christmas Cards

Second Prize: $15 gift certificate and a trophy from Blaze-N-Skyy, dog tag from Dog Tag Art and AHS Christmas Cards

Third Prize: $10 gift certificate and a trophy from Blaze-N-Skyy, dog tag from Dog Tag Art and AHS Christmas Cards

4) The judging panel is comprised of Asheville Humane Society Board of Directors, employees and volunteers. They are all nice, honest people and will not accept bribes. Judges will select three finalists. The three finalist photos will be posted online at www.ashevillehumane.org and the public will be invited to vote for their favorite Asheville dog. Entries will be judged on the basis of originality, artistic quality, and the compelling description accompanying the photo.

5) Rights -Fees: There are no entry fees and no purchases of any kind required to enter and/or win the contest. All submissions become property of Asheville Humane Society. Asheville Humane Society reserves the right to disqualify an entry at any time. The winning photo artist is obligated to provide royalty-free, indiscriminate use of the photo.

6) The photo must be original work and never been copyrighted unless by the entrant.

7) The winner will be notified by mail, by phone, by cell phone, or by smoke signals and posted on our internet site.

Submission deadline is by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009

Entry Guidelines:

Email your photo in a jpeg format and include the following information (incomplete entries will not be considered).

1) Your name, mailing address and phone number

2) Your email address

3) Name, age, gender of your dog

4) Dog’s favorite toy and favorite treat

5) How, why and where you acquired your dog

6) Reason why your dog should be the 2009 Adopt-a-Dog Month Spokesdog (must not exceed 50 words – any submission over the word count will be disqualified).

7) Email photo and information to: admin@ashevillehumane.org

Contest Timeline:

Photo submission Deadline: October 12th by 5 p.m.

Online judging/voting of the 3 finalists: Oct 14th – 23rd

Winner Announced: At the Halloween Dog Festival October 24th and online October 26th

By submitting a photo to the Adopt-A-Dog Pet Photo Contest, the artist agrees to give and grant to Asheville Humane Society, its employees, nominees, agents, successors and assigns, unlimited authorization, consent and permission to publish, republish, reproduce, distribute and, in any other manner, to use, any and all information about the pet and any and all reproductions of pet’s likeness (photographic or otherwise), and with or without the use or disclosure of owner’s name. The artist understands and agrees that the authorizations, consents and permissions contained herein are given voluntarily and with the full understanding that no compensation or other payment of any kind will be paid to any person for any of the agreements contained herein or for the exercise or use by the Asheville Humane Society of any of the authorizations, consents or permissions granted in this Authorization and Consent.
