Being a Volunteer Saves Lives

One of our dog behavior modification foster parents, Hiking Hounds enthusiast, and special events volunteer, April Hand donates her time, energy, and passion to helping homeless animals receive happiness and love.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Asheville Humane Society, helping us with everything from the day-to-day tasks of caring for animals and running an office, to assisting at special events, to helping raise funds for our vital programs. We have all sorts of exciting life-saving volunteer opportunities:

  • Save lives by fostering animals in your own home until they are ready for adoption
  • Save lives by keeping our resident animals healthy and happy through cuddling, walking and playing with animals awaiting their forever homes at our Adoption Center
  • Save lives by providing direct care by bathing animals and cleaning kennels/cages
  • Save lives by working at special events such as adoption days at local businesses and at the information table at community events.
  • Save lives by putting your special talents to work in the service of animals in our administrative offices
  • Save lives by partnering with us on a special event.
