Buncombe County has a proactive, strategic approach to saving lives of homeless shelter animals. All animals transferred from the Buncombe County Animal Shelter to adoption placement partners have been vaccinated, diagnostically tested, treated for parasites, medically examined and SAFER/temperament assessed. Buncombe County has generously absorbed the financial responsibility of the spay/neuter expenses at the Humane Alliance of WNC for any animal transferred into an adoptive setting from the Buncombe County Animal Shelter. Placement partners incur no transfer fees and are allowed to keep their adoption fee revenue. By covering the basic expenses associated with preparing a healthy animal for adoption, Buncombe County is hoping to increase the number of lives saved at the Buncombe County Animal Shelter.
If your 501 (c) 3 organization is interested in transferring animals from the Buncombe County Animal Shelter into your Adoption Program, please contact BreeAnn Keogh, Transfer Coordinator, at (828) 250-6430, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
